Choosing an Assessment

What the experts suggest you look for in a pre-hire assessment and the questions to ask -

  • Review the validity study.
  • Does the assessment publisher represent that it has been validated in accordance with EEOC and OFCC Guidelines and the American Psychological Association standards? Are you provided with a Technical Manual supporting that opinion?
  • Does the assessment assess critical job functions for the position for which it is being used?
  • Are the "cut scores" realistic and relevant?
  • Is the report clear and easy for the average recruiter and a hiring manager to understand and effectively use?
  • Will the assessment publisher stand behind the assessment in court, if necessary?
  • Will there be ongoing validation to insure cut scores are still appropriate and there is no disparate impact?
